※ Founded in 1916, NGLC was formerly the library of the National Geological Survey of China under the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, and one of the earliest academic libraries in China.
※ In 1956, Premier Zhou Enlai authorized the foundation of the National Geological Library.
※ In 1996, NGLC moved into China University of Geosciences in Beijing, combined with the library of this university and the library of Beijing College of Geological Management Cadre.
※ In 2000, approved by the State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform (SCOPSR), the National Geological Library was renamed as National Geological Library of China.
※ In 2002, former Premier Wen Jiabao who was once a geologist paid a visit to NGLC.
※ In 2006, NGLC was labeled with the title“Geoscience Documentation center of CGS”.
※ In 2008, NGLC set up the Geosciences Sci-tech Novelty Retrieval Station of the Ministry of Land and Resources.
※ Since 2009, NGLC has acted as a science popularization base of the Ministry of Land and Resources.
